At the sitting held on 27 March 2026, the members of the European Integration Committee were informed about the activities of the Operational Team for the Republic of Serbia’s European Union Accession Process.
The Operational Team for the Republic of Serbia’s European Union Accession Process is a body formed at the initiative of the President of the Republic, with the aim of accelerating and fulfilling everything that constitutes the obligation of the Republic of Serbia in the process of European integration.
The Head of Operational Team for the Republic of Serbia’s European Union Accession Process, Dejan Apostolovic, informed the attendees about the Team’s activities, emphasising that the key priorities at this time are preparations for the opening of Cluster 2 (Internal market), Cluster 5 (Resources, agriculture and cohesion) and Cluster 6 (External relations), as well as the fulfilment of the recommendations from the European Commission’s Annual Report.
Kovacs took the opportunity to point out that the Committee unanimously supports the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union and is working hard to improve conditions in this area.
The Committee members discussed the current status of the Republic of Serbia in the process of accession to the European Union and asked questions about the further dynamics of the negotiations, as well as specific steps that can be taken to accelerate the process. Apostolovic answered the questions, emphasising that the Team is ready to work on accelerating the process of European integration.
Minister Nemanja Starovic stressed that joining the European Union is part of our national interest and a task to which we must all be committed.
Kovacs concluded that Serbia is doing everything and is persistent on its European path, and looks with great optimism at the future steps in the process of accession to the European Union.
