31st Sitting of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee
At the sitting held on 10 July 2026, the members of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee considered the situation in the Veterinary Directorate, with special focus on the infectious disease African swine fever.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Predrag Rojevic said that the following districts are currently affected by African swine fever: Srem, Macva, Kolubara, part of Belgrade and Orasje near Velika Plana. Outbreak has also been declared in the Pomoravlje and Sumadija districts, while the declaration of an outbreak in the Bor district is underway.
African swine fever has also been confirmed at the Mistral farm in Hrtkovci, municipality of Ruma, which has 10,985 pigs of various categories.
African swine fever was registered on 496 farms in 18 municipalities this year. 1,015 pigs died in these farms, while 10,515 were euthanized, with the carcasses being disposed of safely, followed by the prescribed cleaning and disinfection measures.
The most complex situation is in the Srem and Macva districts, as well as in the Belgrade municipality of Obrenovac.
The following discussion focused on the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria on Cooperation in the Field of Plant Protection and Plant Quarantine and the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Cooperation in the Field of Food Safety, submitted by the Government.
The Committee adopted the bills by majority vote.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dejan Bulatovic, Veroljub Matic, Miljana Milojevic, Dragan Jovanovic, Dijana Radovic, Slobodan Ilic, Jozef Tobias, Nikola Pantelic, Zika Gojkovic and Milija Miletic.
