23rd Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 26 October 2021, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government considered, in principle, the Bill on the Ombudsman and the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, both submitted by the Government.

The bills were presented by Maja Macuzic Puzic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, who said that the innovations to be introduced by the bills enhance transparency, expand the circle of persons with the status of authorities obliged to act according to the Law, as well as the Commissioner's authorities, amend the procedure for the election of the Commissioner and limit the Commissioner’s term of office to eight years with no option for re-election.

Following the presentation and discussion the Committee voted to propose that the National Assembly accept the bills.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Vladimir Djukanovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Sanja Lakic, Dejan Kesar, Dubravka Kralj, Vesna Krisanov, Toma Fila, Velibor Milojicic, Nenad Krstic, Marijan Risticevic, Djordje Dabic, Sanja Jefic Brankovic, Dr Mihailo Jokic and Dragan M. Markovic.
