21st Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 14 March, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government reviewed the nominations for the election of the members of the Anti-Corruption Agency Committee.

The Committee decided to propose that the National Assembly consider the following nominations for the election of the members of the Anti-Corruption Agency Committee:

- Nomination of the Committee on Administrative, Budgetary, Mandate and Immunity Issues:
Dr Zoran Stojiljkovic, professor of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade;
- Nomination of the Supreme Court of Cassation:
Nikola Stanojevic, retired judge of the Serbian Supreme Court;
- Nomination of the State Audit Institution:
Dr Evica Petrovic, professor of the Faculty of Economics in Nis;
- Nomination of the Ombudsman and Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection:
Dr Branko Lubarda, professor of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade;
- Nomination of the Serbian Bar Association:
Zoran Vujicic, lawyer.

The Committee decided to propose that the National Assembly consider the nominations under urgent procedure so as to enable the Anti-Corruption Agency Committee to operate without impediment.

The Committee noted that the nominations of the Journalist Association of Serbia, Independent Journalist Association of Serbia and Union of Journalists of Serbia for the election of a member of the Anti-Corruption Agency did not comply with article 9, paragraph 2, item 9, of the Law on the Anti-Corruption Agency. The Committee points out that there are no legal grounds for the National Assembly to elect a member of the Anti-Corruption Agency Committee nominated by journalist associations in the Republic of Serbia based on individual nominations.

At the sitting, the Committee also reviewed the nomination for the election of Deputy Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection. The Report the Committee will submit to the National Assembly notes that the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection has nominated Stanojla Mandic for Deputy Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection.

The sitting was chaired by Petar Petrovic, Committee Chairman.
