18th session of the Culture and Information Committee
At its session held on 5 November 2004, the Culture and Information Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia discussed lists of candidates for membership on the Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency and submitted its Report on the matter.

The Committee noted that the lists, submitted by authorised submitters, were in accordance with the Broadcasting Act. University Rectors had nominated Professor Dr Miroljub Radojkovic and Professor Dr Svetozar Stojanovic for membership on the Council. Slobodan Djoric and Milorad Jaksic-Fandjo had been nominated by broadcasters’ associations, journalists’ associations, professional associations of film and theatre artists, as well as by professional composers’ associations. Velimir Milosevic and Izabela Kisic had been nominated by national non-government organisations and public associations mainly committed to protecting freedom of speech, the rights of national and ethnic minorities and children’s rights. Churches and religious communities had nominated His Eminence the Bishop of Jegar Dr Porfirije Peric and Aleksandra Jankovic.
The Committee resolved that the Report, along with lists of candidates submitted by authorised submitters and the nominees’ biographies, should be forwarded to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in order for the procedure for the election of members of the Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency to continue.
The Report also cites the Committee’s Conclusion adopted at the session held on 24 September 2004, establishing the list of candidates nominated by the Culture and Information Committee for membership on the Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency. The Committee’s candidates are Aleksandar Vasic, Ljiljana Djurdjevac, Boban Jovanovic, Vladimir Cvetkovic, Nenad Cekic and Vukman Covic.
Members of the Culture and Information Committee discussed the reactions of journalists to the Bill on the National Assembly, and commented on the inappropriate reporting of some of the media.
