18th Sitting of the Health and Family Committee

At the sitting held on 26 November, the Health and Family Committee deliberated on the Republic of Serbia 2019 Budget Bill, Section 27 – Ministry of Health, with its accompanying Proposal of the Decision to grant consent to the Republic Health Insurance Fund 2019 Financial Plan, submitted by the Government, in principle.

The sitting was attended by State Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Berislav Vekic, representative of the Republic Health Insurance Fund Svetlana Tadin, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Finance, state secretaries Slavica Savicic and Darko Komnenic and Olivera Ruzic.

Dr Berislav Vekic said that for 2019 the Ministry of Health has been allocated 18,712,691,000 RSD which covers the Ministry of Health, Administration of Biomedicine, Red Cross budget fund and the Budgetary Fund for the treatment of illnesses, conditions and injuries that cannot be successfully treated in the Republic of Serbia.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Slavica Savicic said that the 2019 budget proposal for the Ministry of Health has been increased by 7.7% compared to last year and it mostly covers funds earmarked for the development of healthcare infrastructure with a focus on the clinical centres of Serbia, Vojvodina and Kragujevac.

Republic Health Insurance Fund representative Svetlana Tadin presented the Republic Health Insurance Fund 2019 Financial Plan covering 273.900.000 RSD worth of income. She said that the budget envisages a 10% increase in salaries for medical doctors, dentists and specialists, 12% for nurses and college-educated dental technicians and medical technicians with a high-school diploma, and 7% for everybody else.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Darko Laketic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dr Muamer Bacevac, Radoslav Jovic, Dr Dragana Barisic, Dr Svetlana Nikolic Pavlovic, Vesna Ivkovic, Dusan Milisavljevic, Dr Desanka Repac, Prof. Dr Milan Knezevic, Dr Dragan Vesovic, Dr Ljubica Mrdakovic Todorovic and Dr Danijela Stojadinovic.
