At its session held on 1 November, The Culture and Information Committee endorsed the Bill Amending and Modifying the Publishing Act.
Discussing the Report on the Activities of the Museum of Yugoslav History Audit Commission, members of the Committee suggested to the Government of the Republic of Serbia to take steps, in accordance with its competencies, to protect the historic items kept at the Museum of Yugoslav History. The Committee asked the Ministry of Culture for a report on the change in the museum’s status – from an organisation administered by the Joint Affairs Service of Serbia and Montenegro to a cultural institution administered by the Republic of Serbia. The Report on the Activities of the Museum of Yugoslav History Audit Commission is again to be discussed by the Culture and Information Committee as soon as the Commission finishes its inspection of all localities where historic items are stored and submits its final report to the Assembly Committee.
Members of the Culture and Information Committee adopted the proposal of the chairman, Aleksandar Lazarevic, and formed a Sub-committee charged with assessing, as soon as possible, whether the election of candidates for membership of the Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency was being conducted in accordance with legislation. One member from each parliamentary party is to take part in the work of the Sub-committee.
Representatives of the Ministry of Culture participated in the session of the Culture and Information Committee.
