Presenting the Report to the Committee members, the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Suzana Grubjesic, stressed that 88% of the NPI has been realised in the period from July 2008 to December 2012.
According to Grubjesic, the results are satisfactory considering that only 40% of the NPI had been completed in the last quarter of 2011, reaching 51% in the last quarter of 2012. The regulations which will be passed in the next four years have also been intensively analysed in said period. The Deputy Prime Minister added that the laws planned for but not passed in the fourth quarter of last year, are envisaged by the National Programme for the Adoption of the European Union Acquis Communautaire (2013-2016). Among them are laws regulating consumer protection, postal services, environmental protection, electronic commerce and other areas.
Presenting the National Programme for the Adoption of the European Union Acquis Communautaire (2013-2016), adopted by the Government on 28 February, Grubjesic said that the Programme is based on the observance of the economic, political and legal criteria known as Copenhagen criteria and contains an overview of the priorities and measures for their implementation, as well as the Government’s clearly defined financial plan and a plan for the translation of laws for the European Union.
In the ensuing debate, the Committee members asked why some of the ministries failed to meet the plan for passing laws within their scope and discussed the reform process in the Republic of Serbia. The Committee went on to adopt the National Programme for the Adoption of the European Union Acquis Communautaire (2013-2016).
