At its session held on 4 June, the Privatisation Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia discussed the Proposal on ways to resolve privatisation-related issues, submitted by the interdepartmental working group. The Committee’s chairman, Milko Stimac, gave several suggestions, which will be included in the draft Proposal. The Committee is planning to hold a press conference after the Proposal is adopted, to inform the public on privatisation-related issues and the ways in which they can be solved.

Members of the Committee endorsed the Analysis of Legally-binding Directives Relating to the Privatisation Process, submitted by the Corruption Suppression Council of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

Discussing reports submitted by the Ministry of Economy on the privatisation of Belgrade- and Nis-based tour operators Putnik and Srbija Turist and Arandjelovac transport company Strela-Sumadija, the Committee decided to request more information from the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of the Interior.

The Privatisation Committee also discussed reports submitted by the Ministry of Economy on the privatisation of Bajina Basta-based manufacturer Laminat, Kragujevac-based Transport, Nis-based transport company Autoprevoz, as well as Novi Knezevac and Kosjeric manufacturers, Tisa and Moda.

Based on a report submitted by the Ministry of Economy on actions of the privatised company and the Privatisation Agency, relating to current issues in the privatisation of Valjevo retailer Uzor, the Committee resolved that conditions had been met to terminate the contract, and recommended that the Agency should reconsider its decisions.

The session also discussed the Report submitted by the Ministry of Economy on monitoring purchaser’s obligations arising from the Annex of the Public Auction Sale-Purchase Contract for Belgrade-based retailer Gorica, as a report submitted by the Securities and Exchange Commission on the shareholder structure of UK company Midland Resource, a report made by the Ministry of Economy on the monitoring of the privatisation of Sabac manufacturer Metaloplastika, as well as a Proposal submitted by deputies Milica Vojic-Markovic, Milan Ninic and Milorad Belic for reconsideration and cancellation of the completed privatisation of Ub-based Ubljanka-Nesic.

Besides Committee members and interested deputies, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the Privatisation Agency also attended the session.
