The Environmental Protection Committee held its twelfth session on 13 April. The session was chaired by Miloje Savic, chairman of the Committee.

The Committee discussed and endorsed the Report on the Activities of the Environmental Protection Directorate for 2004, with its associated Plan of Activities for 2005, the Report on the Activities of the Serbian Nature Protection Agency for 2004, with its associated Programme of Activities for 2005, the Report on the Activities of the Agency for Trade in Controlled Wild Plants and Animals for 2004, and the Report on the Activities of the Recycling Agency, with its associated Plan of Activities for 2005.

The session discussed the proposal of Bozidar Mandic from Rudnik, relating to the protection of Porodica bistrih potoka. The Committee endorsed the proposal, and resolved to send official letters to the Ministry of Mining and Energy, the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection, the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, as well as to appropriate local self-government authorities, to examine allegations contained in the submission and perform the necessary analyses. The Committee is to make a proposal to local self-government authorities to consider the possibility of using an existing road instead of building a new one, which would avoid the possibility of causing damage to the environment.

Officials of the Environmental Protection Directorate, the Recycling Agency, the Serbian Nature Protection Agency and the Porodica bistrih potoka non-governmental organisation attended the session.
