10th Sitting of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region

At the sitting held on 22 March 2018, the members of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region deliberated on the position of students of Serbian origin from the region studying in Serbia.

Committee Chairman MA Ivan Kostic said that in view of the endangered rights and inadequate position of Serbs in parts of the region and the diaspora, the Committee in mainly focused on cooperation with Serbs in the diaspora and the region and the improvement of their position. That was the reason why today’s sitting, organized in cooperation with the Belgrade Law Faculty student club, was attended by a number of students of Serbian origin from the region studying in Serbia on the Government’s scholarship program “Serbia for Serbs from the Region” and Studenica foundation. Kostic said he hoped the Committee’s cooperation with the relevant institutions and ministries on the improvement of the status of Serbs in the region would be given an extra boost.

Committee Deputy Chairman Miodrag Linta emphasized the importance of cooperation with the students of Serbian origin from the region studying in Serbia as they are the future of our people adding that the position of the diaspora is a state priority.

The representatives of student organizations and students from the region voiced their opinions, suggestions and problems arising from their attempts to exercise their rights in the diaspora, as well as their impressions of studying in Serbia.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman MA Ivan Kostic and was attended by Committee Deputy Chairman Miodrag Linta.
