Donation of 250 Books for MPs
A gift of 250 books, “Serbocide of the Croatian State 1941-1945 - Bloody Knot of Serbo-Croatian Relations", by Dr Vladimir Umeljic, was presented at the National Assembly House.
The books are intended for the MPs, and on behalf of the National Assembly, they were received by Deputy Speaker Jovan Janjic.
On behalf of the National Assembly and himself, Janjic thanked the author, Dr Vladimir Umeljic, and the editor of "Prometej" publishing house Zoran Kolundzija, and stressed that the National Assembly is committed to establishing accurate and precise historical facts about the suffering of Serbs, adding that this book represents valuable testimony.
"Serbia is committed to fostering good neighbourly relations, but never to the detriment of historical facts," Janjic said, adding that "it is necessary to establish the historical truth, because only when it is established that a crime was committed is it possible to move away from it."
Dr Umeljic is known to the professional community as the author of numerous works dedicated to one of the most important and painful topics in national history, the suffering of the Serbian people during the Independent State of Croatia. His research focuses on issues of historical truth, the culture of remembrance, and responsibility.
