Opposition Parliamentary Groups Representatives Meet with Head of European External Action Service Western Balkans Division

Representatives of the opposition parliamentary groups met today with the Head of the Western Balkans Division in the European External Action Service Zuzana Michalkova Sutiakova.

Head of the People’s Movement of Serbia Miroslav Aleksic said he believed that in Serbia there is more talk about the government's intentions for Serbia to follow the path of European integration, than action to put in into practice. "That's why it is time for the pro-European opposition in Serbia to become a serious partner to the European Union, because only the pro-European opposition can be a guarantor of sincere and real reforms," said Aleksic in the opening part of the meeting.

The meeting was attended by Goran Petrovic on behalf of the Freedom and Justice Party, Tijana Peric Diligenski of the Serbia Centre party, Doc. Dr Biljana Djordjevic of the Green-Left Front, Dr Zoran Lutovac of the Democratic Party, independent MP Saip Kamberi and Ahmedin Skrijelj from SDA Sandzak. They expressed their view that it is necessary to improve the rule of law in Serbia, as well as freedom of the media and freedom of choice. The participants also expressed dissatisfaction that the possibility of earlier accession to the European Union is opening up for Montenegro and Albania compared to Serbia.
