National Assembly Standing Delegation at Mediterranean Forum - OSCE Parliamentary Assembly 22nd Autumn Meeting

Members of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, Veroljub Arsic and Tijana Davidovac, took part in the Mediterranean Forum on the topic "Situation in the Middle East" held under the auspices of the 22nd Autumn Meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

On the occasion, Tijana Davidovac pointed out that in a world characterised by an exponential increase in the use of force and an uncertainty about the future, parliamentarians have the task of helping international institutions to find urgent, effective and lasting solutions to the common challenges we face, always defending human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as the obligation that every state without exception respects the United Nations Charter, international law and international humanitarian law.

She said that all relevant parties should seriously understand the key message: "Absolute priority must be given to preserving peace and protecting innocent lives", which implies that measures should be taken to de-escalate the situation, because the wider region cannot afford the expansion of war zones.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean is fully committed to the peace efforts of the UN and the international community to achieve peace and stability in our regions and around the world, as well as to explore future opportunities for cooperation and prosperity.
