Brnabic informed the officials in detail about what has been done in the field of the rule of law and European integration, emphasising that the opening of Cluster 3 and further progress in the European integration process are of key importance for Serbia. She paid special attention to the implementation of ODIHR recommendations, stressing that significant progress has already been made in electoral legislation, while the formation of a special Commission for the Inspection and Revision of the Unified Voters' Register is imminent, which represents one of the most complex and demanding recommendations. She also indicated that work on the selection of REM members continues, which is an important step in strengthening the rule of law and the functioning of democratic institutions.

At the same time, the National Assembly Speaker expressed concern about the brutal violence taking place on the streets, and especially the open violence over the past seven days. Attacks on the police and public institutions, the courts and the prosecution, burning of party premises, primarily of the SNS, but also of other political parties, destruction of property, physical threats and attacks on journalists, as well as intimidation of family members of government representatives, are occurring daily. She emphasised that such actions are a direct attack on the constitutional order, freedom of the media and the basic security of citizens, and that they cannot be reduced to political disagreement or peaceful protest.

Brnabic clearly sent a message that a decisive and unambiguous reaction from the international community is necessary.
