National Assembly Deputy Speaker Jovan Janjic at Special Police Unit Veterans Union Award Ceremony and Exhibition Opening

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Jovan Janjic, addressed the attendees of the award ceremony of "Statue of the Special Police Units Commander" and "Statue of Duke Vuk" lifetime achievement awards, held at the National Assembly and organised by the Union of Special Police Unit Veterans.

The ceremony was organised to mark the anniversary of the death of the Special Police Units Commander, Lieutenant General Obrad Stevanovic. The Union of Special Police Unit Veterans organised the opening of a photo exhibition entitled "Special Police Units Commander, Lieutenant General Obrad Stevanovic with his Obilici on Heavenly Guard", as well as the presentation of the Association's high awards for lifetime achievement.

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Janjic stressed that he was honoured to be in the company of people with whom he shared the same feelings, with the fighters who fought for their people in the wars of the last decade of the 20th century, as well as with those who today, in various fields of social life, are fighting for the good of their people and country.

He said that the photo exhibition in the National Assembly testifies to the willingness to sacrifice and the deeds of special police units, stressing that it is an example of how our reality is cultivated through the culture of memory.

The President of the Union of Special Police Unit Veterans, Sasa Pantelic, also spoke at the ceremony, as did General Ljubisa Dikovic, Military Bishop Dositej, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic.
