National Assembly Delegation at PACE Spring Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

The members of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, will be taking part in the PACE Spring Session, to be held in Strasbourg, 24 – 28 April 2023.

In the course of the session, the Assembly will discuss the report on political strategies to prevent, prepare for and face the consequences of natural disasters, following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The President of Iceland, Gudni Th. Johanesson, will address the MPs.

Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Mijatovic will present the annual activity report for 2022, while Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic Buric will hold her usual question time with the members of the Parliamentary Assembly.

Other topics to be discussed include the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, the European Convention on Human Rights and national constitutions, youth and the media, as well as safeguarding democracy, rights and the environment in international trade.

There will also be an urgent debate on "The situation of Ukrainian civilians, including children, forcibly displaced or transferred to the Russian Federation or Ukrainian territories under the de facto control of the Russian Federation", with the online intervention of the Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska, as well as a current affairs debate on "Russia’s role in the escalation tensions in the Republic of Moldova".

The delegation comprises: Biljana Pantic Pilja, Head of the delegation, Elvira Kovacs, Dubravka Filipovski, Dunja Simonovic Bratic and Stefan Jovanovic.
