Members of PFG with Hungary Talk with Hungarian National Assembly Speaker about Improving Interparliamentary Cooperation

The Head and members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Hungary met with the delegation of the National Assembly of Hungary, headed by Parliament Speaker Laszlo Kover.

The Head of the PFG with Hungary, Marko Mladenovic, welcomed the guests, highlighting the importance of the sincere friendship that connects the two nations.

"I can rightly say that you should feel at home in the National Assembly House, because you are not guests here, but friends," Mladenovic said.

He stressed that the excellent economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, which, thanks to the friendship between Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, should be nurtured and further strengthened through interparliamentary dialogue. The Hungarian National Assembly Speaker agreed with this, emphasising that Hungary enjoys excellent relations with Serbia and that parliamentarians should be a link that will further contribute to the understanding of the two peoples, activate dialogue on current issues and together find answers and solutions.

Kover reminded of the importance of the step taken 10 years ago with the historic reconciliation of the two countries, whose cooperation has been making unstoppable progress since then, which is best evidenced by the position of the Serbs in Hungary and Hungarians in Serbia.

The Hungarian National Assembly Speaker also pointed out that Hungary will continue to stand firm in its support for Serbia’s path to full membership in the European Union and harshly commented on the possibility that the date of its accession will be linked to the Ukrainian one.

In the continuation of the meeting, Kover was interested in the situation of the Serbs in the territory of Kosovo-Metohija, about which he was informed in detail by the member of the PFG with Hungary, Danijela Vujicic. The meeting was also attended by PFG members Nevena Djuric, Dr Danijela Vujicic, Dr Stanislava Janosevic, Tatjana Petrovic Stojkovic and Dr Ugljesa Mrdic.
