MPs Markovic and Stosic Discuss Improving Social Housing System with Belgrade City Assembly Councillor

The Chairman of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Aleksandar Markovic and the Chairman of the Committee on Labour, Social Issues, Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Haji Milorad Stosic, as well as MP Vesna Nedovic, met today at the National Assembly with the councillor of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade Natasa Tasic Knezevic to exchange information and discuss the position of marginalised groups with the aim of promoting future developments and activities in the area.

The councillor of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade Natasa Tasic Knezevic presented the initiative for the improvement of the social housing system in Belgrad. She said that by working in the field, together with MP Vesna Nedovic, she became more intimately familiar with the problems faced by the beneficiaries of the social housing scheme, primarily their inability to pay for community services.

She shared a proposal of measures that would make the social housing system more efficient and more easily available to its users. Setting up a unified register and strengthening inter-institutional support for the users of social services are of exceptional importance, she stressed, with a special focus on coordinating activities and constant communication between the relevant ministries and local self-governments.

The two committee chairmen, Aleksandar Markovic and Haji Milorad Stosic, endorsed the initiative, expressing their readiness to contribute to its realisation, within their respective scopes.
