Head of PFG with Germany Meets with Bundestag Member

The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Germany Dr Aleksandra Tomic met today at the National Assembly with Tino Chrupalla, member of the Bundestag, to discuss the relations between the two countries, intensification of interparliamentary cooperation and the current political situation.

Speaking about the good bilateral relations between Serbia and Germany, Dr Aleksandra Tomic pointed out that economic cooperation has reached the highest level yet and Germany is Serbia’s number one foreign trade partner and the most important investor of all the European Union countries. Last year’s volume of trade was 8.24 billion euros and German companies in Serbia employ over 84,000 people, Tomic emphasised.

There is a great interest among Serbian students to study in Germany, she said pointing to the good cooperation between our technical faculties and German companies, through science and technology parks.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Committee on Kosovo-Metohija MA Milovan Drecun who informed the guest in detail about the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija, saying that the daily terror of Albin Kurti’s regime has led to a situation where Serbs from the north of Kosovo-Metohija are trying to oppose it in every way they can and they do not want to integrate into a fake state.

Drecun emphasised that the only way to de-escalate the situation is the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, withdrawal of special police units from the north of Kosovo and the continuation of the dialogue without obstruction from the Pristina side. He said that Belgrade is committed to solving all problems peacefully, as well as that only KFOR can have a military presence in Kosovo-Metohija, according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244. He added that the creation of so-called Kosovo Army is the biggest danger for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and warned that this dangerous situation in the north of Kosovo-Metohija could easily spill over into the entire region.

Bundestag Member Tino Chrupalla expressed his concern about the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija, saying that it is necessary to establish peace and stability in the region. He opined that contacts between MPs are extremely important, precisely for the sake of exchanging information and opinions on all current topics.

The officials agreed that it is very important to maintain regular contacts and exchange parliamentary visits, so that the members of the two parliaments can discuss key topics of mutual interest, such as economic cooperation, renewable energy sources, energy and regional security.
