Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Deputy Chairman and National Assembly Speaker Host Serbian Children from Herzegovina

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Milimir Vujadinovic and National Assembly Speaker Dr Vladimir Orlic received today, in the National Assembly House, students and their chaperones from Herzegovina - Republic of Srpska and representatives of their homeland associations from Belgrade.

At the beginning of the meeting, Milimir Vujadinovic thanked the National Assembly Speaker for taking the time to greet the best primary school students from the south of the Republic of Srpska from Herzegovina. He also used the opportunity to thank the organisers of today's visit, under the patronage of former MP Dejan Stosic who is trying, as an individual and in cooperation with associations, to follow what is the official position of Serbia, that is, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Office for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, to make sure that our children from the region visit Serbia, see its sights, cities and institutions at least once during schooling.

In the continuation of his address, Vujadinovic greeted the children present and welcomed them to the National Assembly House, stressing that this is their house where they are always welcome.

"This house, this city, this country are the centre of gathering of our people in the cultural, educational, health and political sense", underlined Milimir Vujadinovic.

"The message we want to send you, which is also the message of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, one he always delivers when he receives your friends from the region, is to be good students, athletes and good people," said Vujadinovic, adding that it is the duty of all the MPs and institutions in Serbia to help them in this.

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region particularly pointed out the importance of preserving the Serbian identity in the Balkans, nurturing the Serbian language and culture, as this determines belonging and appealed to the students to exercise their right to Serbian citizenship.

Following the address, the guests from the Herzegovina had the opportunity to tour the National Assembly House with the Group for Education and Presentation of the National Assembly Heritage.
