Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Chairman Dragan Stanojevic on Discrimination against Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Dragan Stanojevic, pointed out that the example of discrimination against Serbs on publicly available job search federal portals of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is not an isolated case.

Stanojevic said that the job advertisement states that knowledge of Bosnian, Croatian and English is a mandatory requirement, while Serbian is not listed, even though it is one of the official languages and the language of a constituent people.

He pointed out that this is an example of systematic discrimination and a restriction of the rights of Serbs to language, identity and equal participation in public life.

The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region called on the competent authorities to urgently withdraw the controversial advertisement, determine responsibility, and respond clearly to similar cases, emphasising that silence of the institutions may contribute to the further spread of discrimination.

Stanojevic said that the Committee continues to protect the rights of the Serbian people and react to every form of discrimination and exclusion, demanding full equality as prescribed by the Constitution and laws.
