Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee Chairman Meets with Representatives of Agricultural Associations

Today, the Chairman of the Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Committee Chairman Marijan Risticevic and Committee member Dejan Bulatovic had a meeting in the National Assembly with representatives of agricultural associations.

The topic of the meeting was the request of the representatives of the association that agricultural incentives should not be exclusively intended for farmers of certified seeds, but that the increase in incentives per hectare should also include fruit and vegetable producers. The representatives also expressed the view that the amount of the incentive should be single and not dependent on the repeat fee for certain inputs, and proposed that the incentive amount to 28,000 dinars per hectare, and that the remaining money should be directed to investments for the purchase of quality heads, machinery, orchards, watering systems, facilities.

Risticevic agreed with the representatives’ demands and said that he would present them both to the members of the Committee and to the representatives of the ministry.

At the meeting, there was talk of holding another public hearing, regarding incentives for agricultural associations, and the Committee Chairman informed the attendees that the Bill amending the Law on Incentives in Agriculture and Rural Development has entered parliamentary procedure and he expected it to soon find its way to the agenda of a National Assembly session.
