The Report was presented by representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic, State Secretary, and Irini Reljin and Sava Savic, assistant ministers, who briefed the Committee members on the Ministry’s project activity and international cooperation, primarily in the sphere of EU accession. The Ministry representatives emphasised the importance of the Law amending and modifying the Law on Electronic Communication, Strategy of Broadband Network and Service Development in the Republic of Serbia to 2016, passed by the Government, as well as the switchover project from analogue to digital terrestrial broadcasting signal.
The Ministry representatives informed the MPs on the establishment of a Working Group for the finalisation of the project “Switchover from analogue to digital terrestrial TV broadcasting”, comprising the representatives of the relevant Ministry, Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communication and Postal Services, PE Broadcasting Technique and Connections, Ministry of Culture and Media, Republic Broadcasting Agency, Ministry of Finance and Radio Television of Serbia. The Working Group’s task is to enable the citizens of Serbia to fully switch over to digital broadcasting by 17 June 2015.
The Committee members than proceeded to ask questions about the Working Group defining the national broadband network, the activities of the relevant Ministry as regards EU accession and how to help the socially vulnerable population categories which are unable to switch over to the digital broadcasting signal.
After the discussion, the Committee unanimously adopted Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Activity Report for the period 26 April - 31 December.
