The National Assembly Secretariat General conducts general business of common concern for the whole Service; business aimed at ensuring the uniform functioning of the Service; business such as internal auditing, preparation and processing of National Assembly sessions and issuance of shorthand notes, public relations, protocol and assembly heritage presentation; it monitors the realisation of projects concerning the improvement of the organisation and work of the Service; business relating to the implementation of rules regulating: the availability of information of public importance and data confidentiality, anti-corruption efforts and gender equality and provides other expert and clerical services important for the performance of duty of National Assembly Secretary General (hereinafter the Secretary General) and Deputy Secretary General.
The National Assembly Secretariat General comprises the following organisational units:
1) Department for the Preparation and Processing of National Assembly Sessions;
2) Shorthand Notes Section;
3) Public Relations Department and
4) Protocol, Education and Assembly Heritage Presentation Department.
Department for the Preparation and Processing of National Assembly Sessions
The Department for the Preparation and Processing of National Assembly Sessions prepares and organises National Assembly sessions; collects and prepares documentation and data necessary for the work at a National Assembly session; prepares the acts passed at the National Assembly sessions for publication in the “Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia”; prepares original acts passed by the National Assembly; prepares and supplies the MPs with information on the schedule of National Assembly sessions and provides other expert and clerical services for the needs of the National Assembly.

Shorthand Notes Section
The Shorthand Notes Section collates the shorthand notes taken at the National Assembly for publication; organises the authorisation and semantic and textual processing of unauthorised notes’ provides legal and textual revision and proofreading; formulates parliamentary questions; creates books of shorthand notes and graphically processes them for printing; prepares collated and authorised notes and prepares the graphic designs for the title, content and register of speakers; prepares the address book of users of the printed books and archives and maintains a database on the books of shorthand notes.

Public Relations Department
The Public Relations Department keeps the public informed on the National Assembly’s work and improves public relations; cooperates with domestic and foreign media; monitors and drafts a review of the domestic and foreign media’s reports on the National Assembly’s work; cooperates with appropriate state authorities; prepares, updates and translates the content of the National Assembly’s Internet presentation into a foreign language.

Protocol, Education and Assembly Heritage Presentation Department
The Protocol, Education and Assembly Heritage Presentation Department plans, prepares and realises all protocol related business at the National Assembly; prepares and arranges the National Assembly facilities for ceremonial events; organises and helps realise international meetings and travels of the Speaker, Deputy Speakers, MPs and official National Assembly delegations in the country and abroad; communicates with diplomatic representatives and representatives of international organisations; procures and keeps record of protocol presents; prepares and helps the realisation of the visit programme of citizens, domestic and foreign delegations to the National Assembly and visits of National Assembly representatives to citizens on the territory of the Republic of Serbia as well as enables the realisation of other programmes opening the National Assembly to the public; provides education and presentation of the National Assembly’s work and preparation of printed, multimedia and related educational and informative material.The Department conducts business in accordance with the highest standards of protocol.

The Protocol, Education and Assembly Heritage Presentation Department includes the Education and Assembly Heritage Presentation Group.The Education and Assembly Heritage Presentation Group conducts business relating to the preparation and realisation of visit programmes of citizens, domestic and foreign delegations to the National Assembly and visits of National Assembly representatives to citizens on the territory of the Republic of Serbia as well as the realisation of other programmes opening the National Assembly to the public; it ensures education and presentation of the National Assembly’s work and preparation of printed, multimedia and related educational and informative material.

According to the job systematisation, the Secretariat General includes the post of Internal Auditor. The Internal Auditor prepares proposals of strategic and annual auditing plans; organises and performs tasks and work related to auditing; determines auditing techniques, goals, and methods of auditing causes; collects and analyses information in cases of individual audits; verifies and assesses the adequacy and effectiveness of the organisation of the system of auditing controls and procedures within certain audits related to the functioning of the National Assembly; verifies the method of work and the quality of work processes for the purpose of assessing the economy, efficiency, and success of functioning; performs the assessment of risk, risk management, as well as harmonisation of the functioning with the law, internal acts and procedures, reliability and completeness of financial and other data and information; creates auditing reports and provides recommendations to the leadership about the elimination of shortcomings; monitors the implementation of auditing recommendations provided in the reports on previously conducted audits; provides expert advice and opinions on the introduction of new systems, processes and procedures; inputs, processes and verifies data and documents produced in the course of work into an electronic database using e-parliament; performs other tasks from the sphere of internal auditing as ordered by the Secretary General.
