REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY DELEGATION VISITS REPUBLIC OF SERBIA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, headed by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Nada Tesanovic, paid a return visit to the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia on 18 and 19 September 2009.

At the National Assembly House the guests were greeted by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nikola Novakovic and National Assembly Secretary General Veljko Odalovic.

In the meeting with National Assembly Deputy Speaker Nada Tesanovic, Deputy Secretary General Marko Acic and Assistant Secretary General Ljiljana Timotija, the National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Secretary General, Nikola Novakovic and Veljko Odalovic briefed the guests on the efforts put into drafting the Assembly Act and Rules of Procedure. The officials shared the experiences gained through the two parliaments’ work and expressed an expectation that their future cooperation shall be intensified and mutually beneficial.

Members of two parliaments’ various assembly committees also discussed potential cooperation in the upcoming period.

The members of the Administrative Committee and the Committee on the Political System, Judiciary and Administration of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska met with the members of the Administrative Committee and the Committee on Justice and Administration of the National Assembly.

The members of the Committee on Economy and Finance, Committee on Monitoring the Situation in the Area of Pension and Disability Insurance, Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Water Supply and Committee on Trade and Tourism of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska talked to the members of the Finance Committee, Agriculture Committee and Committee on Trade and Tourism of the National Assembly.

Also, the members of the Committee on European Integrations and Regional Cooperation and the Committee on Defence and Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska talked to the members of the Committee on Defence and Security and European integrations Committee of the National Assembly.

The members of the Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Information and the Committee on Health, Labour and Social Policy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska met with the members of the Education Committee, Committee on Science and Technological Development, Culture and Information Committee, Committee on Health and the Family and Committee on Labour, Ex-Servicemen’s and Social Issues of the National Assembly.

The members of the Environmental Protection Committee, Committee on Equal Opportunities and Committee on Youth of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska exchanged opinions on their current work and future activities with the members of the Environmental Protection Committee, Gender Equality Committee and Committee on Youth and Sports of the National Assembly.

Following these meetings, the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska was taken on a tour of the National Assembly House edifice.
