Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic said that the Committee’s consent is needed to extend the ratified international agreement and the amendment of Annex A of said Agreement initiated by the American side. The basis for the negotiations is aimed at achieving two goals, one – avoiding a break in the 10-year cooperation, due to passage of time, of provision of Article 11 of the valid and ratified Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the United States of America relating to Scientific and Technical Cooperation, and two – to amend the Annex for the validity period of the extension relating to management of intellectual property that may be created through cooperation between the institutions of the two contracting parties in the coming 10 years. The reasons for the temporary implementation of the Protocol lie in the need to prevent a needless cessation of ongoing cooperation which would occur automatically as the implementation of the existing Agreement loses legal grounds this month.

Following the presentation the Committee accepted the Report and granted consent for the temporary implementation of the Protocol until its coming into force.
