Stefanovic and Ambassador Tolkach Discuss Cooperation between Serbian and Ukrainian Parliamentary Committees and Friendship Groups

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Borko Stefanovic met today at the National Assembly House with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia Volodymyr Tolkach to discuss intensifying cooperation between the Serbian and Ukrainian parliamentary committees and friendship groups.

The officials agreed that it would be useful for the MPs to exchange experiences, first at the level of foreign affairs committees, and then intensify relations through the establishment and activities of friendship groups in both parliaments. They s also agreed that an exchange of European integration experiences between Serbia and Ukraine would be of great importance for the further European prospects of both countries, as well as the entire Western Balkans.

The meeting also touched on the current situation in Ukraine, as well as the latest developments in Kosovo-Metohija after Serbs left the provisional institutions in Pristina.

"What the Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija did was only expected and logical, because the oppression went too far. Pristina has not honoured the obligations assumed by the agreements reached with Belgrade, especially with regard to the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities," Stefanovic opined.

Ambassador Tolkach reaffirmed his country's position of full respect for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia, which Committee Chairman Stefanovic thanked him for, stating this position to be a clear indicator of friendship between the two nations.

"You have the support to bring our peoples closer together, especially in difficult times, the premise of this being that we work together to strengthen mutual relations," said Stefanovic.
