Elaborating the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development Activity Information, Dr Srdjan Verbic, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development stressed that the functioning of the Ministry rests on two cornerstones. One of them is the Education Development Strategy in Serbia by 2020, adopted by the Government in 2012 and conducted based on the Action Plan for its implementation, while the second cornerstone is the fact that the Ministry’s decisions result primarily from scientific and educational research. The Minister added that, based on various analyses, the Ministry obtains relevant data such as where it would be best to invest funds in order to improve the education system, stressing the need to set up more pre-schools and extend the inclusion of pre-schoolers. The Minister also stated that corruption remains the biggest problem of higher education highlighting the need to come up with a graduation exam as a requisite for enrolment into higher education institutions.

In the continuation, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development Viktor Nedovic explained the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the European Union on the participation of the Republic of Serbia in the European Union programme Horizon 2020 - Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020).

The Committee decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the Bill.

The Committee members unanimously adopted the Decision to organise a public hearing with the topic “Discussion on the Draft Law amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education”.
