Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2011

At the request made by 117 MPs, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, convened the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2011, for Thursday, 14 July 2011, starting at 12 p.m.


The request to hold the session set the following agenda:

  1. The Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Elections, submitted by the Government and
  2. The Ombudsman’s 2010 Regular Annual Report, submitted by the Ombudsman with the accompanying Proposal of the Conclusions of the Justice and Administration Committee of 21 June 2011.

At the beginning of the proceedings, the heads i.e. authorised representatives of the parliamentary groups Dragan Todorovic, Balint Pasztor, Bojan Djuric and Milos Aligrudic requested information and explanations in line with article 286 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.

The National Assembly conducted a joint debate in principle on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Elections, elaborated by Minister of Human and Minority Rights, Public Administration and Local Self-Government Milan Markovic.

By the end of the day, the National Assembly had completed the joint debate in principle on the Bill.

On the second day of work, 19 July, the National Assembly continued the session with a unified debate on the Ombudsman’s 2010 Regular Annual Report, submitted by the Ombudsman, with the accompanying Proposal of the Conclusions of the Justice and Administration Committee of 21 June 2011.

Before moving on to the agenda, the heads i.e. authorised representatives of the parliamentary groups Zeljko Tomic, Dragan Todorovic, Bajram Omeragic, Kenan Hajdarevic, Mirko Cikiriz and Miroslav Markicevic requested information and explanations in line with article 286 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.

By the end of the day, the National Assembly had completed the unified debate on the Ombudsman’s 2010 Regular Annual Report with the accompanying Proposal of the Conclusions of the Justice and Administration Committee. In addition, the National Assembly had completed a debate in detail on the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Elections.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate on all the items on the agenda for the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly in 2011, National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic set Wednesday, 20 July, as Voting Day on all the items on the agenda for the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly in 2011, starting at 5 p.m.

Voting Day

On Voting Day, 20 July, the National Assembly adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Local Elections and the Ombudsman’s 2010 Regular Annual Report, submitted by the Ombudsman, with the accompanying Proposal of the Conclusions of the Justice and Administration Committee of 21 June 2011.

Since the National Assembly had completed the discussion on the items on the agenda and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic concluded the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2011.
