Security Services Control Committee and Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Members Visit Serbian Army Base “Jug”

The members of the Security Services Control Committee and the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee visited the Serbian Army Base “Jug” (South) on 14 January 2019, accompanied by Serbian Armed Forces Deputy Chief of General Staff Major-General Petar Cvetkovic.

On the occasion, Security Services Control Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic presented the Commander of the 4th Army Brigade Brigadier General Slobodan Stopa with a Committee plaque for his contributions to the strengthening of the security sector.

In the course of the visit to the Army Base the members of the National Assembly committees toured the facilities, multinational operation units training centre and tactical training course, as well as talked to the members of the Serbian Armed Forces ascertaining their readiness, skill and ability to respond to security threats and challenges in the Republic of Serbia and beyond, wherever the Serbian Army is deployed in multinational operations.

They also voiced their full support to President Aleksandar Vucic and his efforts to advance the security sector, strengthen national security and combat organized crime. They went on to praise President Vucic and the Serbian Government’s initiative to strengthen penal policy and amend the criminal code which is a clear sign of the state’s resolve to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
