The 13 MPs and four National Assembly staff members who had completed the course were presented with certificates by Colonel Miroslav Talijan, Head of the Military Academy’s National Defence School, who said he was most pleased by the continued cooperation with the National Assembly and the OSCE Mission to Serbia, with whose help the Military Academy had once again organized the pilot course.

“It has been a special honour to have worked together to help shape these people who will carry the principles of democracy and rule of law in their hearts”, said Colonel Talijan.

Chairperson of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee Marija Obradovic, Security Services Control Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, Head of the National Defence School Advanced Security and Defence Studies Colonel Dr Goran Zupac and Kathrin Gabriel of the OSCE Mission to Serbia’s Democratisation Department all agreed that the education of MPs i.e. those who should supervise and control the defence and security sector, is both greatly important and useful. They were especially pleased by the institutions’ excellent cooperation on the project and the fact that so many MPs are interested in the next cycle.

Certificates on the completed second cycle of the “Assembly control and oversight of the security sector” pilot course, realized since 2015, were presented to MPs Ivana Stojiljkovic, Zvonimir Djokic, Jasmina Obradovic, Zoran Radojicic, Dusko Tarbuk, Snezana B. Petrovic, Radoslav Milojicic, Dr Vesna Rakonjac, MA Ivan Kostic, MA Igor Becic, Jasmina Nikolic, Nenad Bozic and Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic, as well as to the National Assembly staff members.

The pilot curse is realized under the auspices of project “Development of the MPs’ capacities for the oversight of the security sector” co-conducted by the National Assembly, Military Academy and the OSCE Mission to Serbia.
