The main topic of discussion at the meeting was: Global climate change: causes, effects and possible consequences for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Member States.

Taking part in the meeting, Sanda Raskovic Ivic pointed out that global challenges like global climate change call for both global action and response and regional and local strategy. Raskovic Ivic applauded the efforts the Black Sea Economic Cooperation puts into environmental protection and conservation, as well as the cooperation among the PABSEC member states in the sphere. She also pointed out how important it is for the PABSEC member states to harmonise their respective legislation, develop advanced technologies, establish protected areas in the Black Sea region, as well as coordinate and exchange experience in the field.

Raskovic Ivic informed the participants of the meeting about Serbia’s legislative framework on climatic change and environmental protection, and the efforts expended to raise awareness on the importance of these issues.

Besides the National Assembly’s standing delegation, the meeting was also attended by the PABSEC standing delegations from the parliaments of the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine.
