The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ukraine, Radoslav Milojicic, and Group members Stasa Stojanovic and MA Milovan Drecun, had a zoom meeting with the members of the Group of Interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Serbia of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, led by Deputy Head Dmytro Natalukha.
Radoslav Milojicic emphasised the close relationship between Serbia and Ukraine and our two peoples, which is also reflected in the regular meetings between the presidents of the two countries, Aleksandar Vucic and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He expressed his concern about the situation in Ukraine, stressing that he hopes for a speedy re-establishment of peace and reconstruction of Ukraine.
Milojicic said that Serbia's position is very well known, that it respects the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as all UN members. He was grateful for the fact that Ukraine also respects the integrity of our country and does not recognise the so-called the state of Kosovo.
He added that Serbia has shown its support to Ukraine by sending humanitarian aid and donations, as well as recent assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector, in anticipation of the upcoming winter.
The Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Group of Interparliamentary relations with the Republic of Serbia Dmytro Natalukha thanked Serbia and the friendly Serbian people for their help in these difficult times for Ukraine, adding that relations with Serbia, as the leader of the West Balkan region, are very important for his country.
He said that it means a lot to Ukraine and that he appreciates the fact that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, is one of the signatories of the Declaration from the Peace Summit on Ukraine.
MA Milovan Drecun, member of the PFG with Ukraine, pointed out that Serbia remembers the support of Ukraine and its people during the NATO bombing in 1999 and is ready to support all resolutions it considers constructive.
Group member Stasa Stojanovic stressed that we should all be future-oriented and strive to stop the war.
The meeting also touched on possible concrete forms of cooperation between the two countries. The Ukrainian parliamentarians pointed out that Serbia's support would be extremely important in the care and rehabilitation of children living in difficult war conditions, as well as in the medical treatment of wounded soldiers.
The official jointly assessed that for the two countries, both candidates for EU membership, the exchange of experiences and good practices in the process of European integration and the harmonisation of domestic legislation with the European would be of greatly appreciated.
