National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Talks to Chinese Communist Party Central Committee International Liaison Department Minister Song Tao

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked with the minister in the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Song Tao.

Minister Song Tao congratulated Ivica Dacic on taking office as Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and expressed confidence that in his new position, as before, he would continue to nurture close and friendly relations between Serbia and China. He pointed out that his visit to China as the head of Serbian diplomacy in February this year was a clear demonstration of Serbia’s support and solidarity for China in that challenging and difficult moment.

The National Assembly Speaker thanked the Minister stressing that in his new position he would continue to work on not only further strengthening the parliamentary, but also overall cooperation between the two countries. He said that Serbia highly appreciates the support and assistance in medical equipment and material that the Government of the People's Republic of China, Chinese provinces and companies, as well as the citizens of China, sent to Serbia to fight the epidemic. He also thanked China for its principled support for the preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that Serbia too strongly supports the "One-China policy”.

The officials agreed that the bilateral relations are at a high level, with a highly developed political dialogue, and that the strategic partnership between the two countries is constantly growing stronger. They concluded that the epidemic did not diminish the cooperation between China and Serbia in any way, that it continues to develop, and even that the friendly relations were further strengthened in these difficult times.

Minister Song Tao spoke about the results of the recent 5th plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the recommendations and guidelines adopted there, as well as the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development.

Song Tao and Ivica Dacic also talked about party cooperation, agreeing that these are close parties that enjoy long-standing intensive communication and exchange of experiences, which further strengthens the friendly relations between the two countries and the two nations. Minister Song Tao reminded Ivica Dacic that next year would mark the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and invited him to visit China and take part in the celebration of the important jubilee.

The National Assembly Speaker thanked Minister Song Tao for his personal support and efforts in improving bilateral relations between the two countries and reiterated the invitation to visit Serbia, which the Chinese side was glad to accept. He took the opportunity to also invite the Chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress Li Zhanshu to visit Serbia, when the circumstances allow it, with the belief that those visits would help further strengthen the overall cooperation between the two countries.
