National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic Sends Telegram of Condolences on Death of Singer-Songwriter Djordje Balasevic

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic sent a telegram of condolences to the family of the late singer-songwriter Djordje Balasevic.

"Djordje Balasevic was an artist capable of hearing us all and we followed him, singing his songs which remained loyal to the search for opportunities to make our language speak in a new, more subtle and expressive way.

He will be remembered as an excellent and provocative poet, an icon of the city of Novi Sad and the love of Belgrade. A performer, a poet and a wise thinker whose songs we sang following him with all our heart and soul.

The Serbian cultural scene has lost another wise and self-aware mind from the generation of the fifties and sixties, who kept it at the European and global level, at the same time aware of the language which they sang in and the language they served."
