National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Head of PFG with State of Qatar, Academician Muamer Zukorlic – Press Statement

In his capacity as the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the State of Qatar, on the occasion the first parliamentary elections in the country, scheduled for October 2021, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Academician Muamer Zukorlic praised the courage shown by H.E. Emir of the State of Qatar by calling the elections.

Academician Zukorlic pointed out that the decision to call the elections marks the first step of this kind in the Gulf region and represents a considerable contribution to the improvement of the legislative process with the wider participation of citizens.

Academician Zukorlic also welcomed the new steps taken by the State of Qatar within the reform of the labour law in the country viz. setting minimum wage and facilitating the transition between different employers, stating that this reform represents a significant step for both the rights of employees and for the Qatari society as a whole. The undertaken reforms of the labour law will also improve the conditions for the engagement of economic entities from Serbia on Qatari territory.
