National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic at 13th Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of Adriatic Ionian Initiative
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic took part in the Conference of the Speakers of the Parliaments of the Adriatic Ionian Initiative on 23 April in Neum, attended by the parliamentary representatives of the eight AII countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Slovenia and Serbia.
Speaking of the role of the parliamentary dimension in the achievement of the goals of the Adriatic Ionian Initiative, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Veroljub Arsic said that the Republic of Serbia supports and actively contributes to the activities relating to the EU Strategy for the Adriatic Ionian region.
The Conference ended with the adoption of a Joint Statement in which the participants commend the realisation of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic Ionian macroregion and confirm their full support for the governments and all the other institutions involved in the realisation of the strategy which is a way to achieve sustainable economic and social progress in the region.
In the Joint Statement, the participants of the Conference expressed their deepest sympathies for the recent tragic death of migrants in the Mediterranean and called for an urgent resolution of this humanitarian problem.
