National Assembly Deputy Speaker Djerlek in N'Djamena with President of Chad: New Momentum for Cooperation between Serbia and African Countries

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Edin Djerlek met in N'Djamena with the President of the Republic of Chad Mahamat Idriss Deby, with whom he discussed the further development of political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries, as well as the possibilities of cooperation within international initiatives, including EXPO 2027 in Serbia, the specialised exhibition that will bring together the largest number of countries in the history of the event.

Djerlek underscored Serbia's commitment to deepening ties with African countries through parliamentary diplomacy, economic and cultural projects, as well as educational initiatives, including the "World in Serbia" programme, which provides free education for students from African countries at state universities in Serbia.

In the course of the visit, Deputy Speaker Djerlek also had separate meetings with the Speaker of Parliament of Chad, Ali Kolotou Tchaimi, the President of the Pan-African Parliament, Chief Zephania Charumbira, and the President of the Arab Parliament, Ahmed Al-Yamahi.

The meetings focused on emphasising the importance of parliamentary cooperation, exchange of experiences and joint action in international organisations, with the aim of preserving peace, stability and strengthening interregional solidarity.

At the invitation of the Global Council for Peace and Tolerance, Djerlek addressed the members of the Parliament of Chad, recalling Serbia's rich tradition of friendship with African peoples within the Non-Aligned Movement. He stressed Serbia's readiness to contribute to peace, stability and new forms of partnership between Europe and Africa through institutional and parliamentary cooperation.
