National Assembly Deputy Speaker Academician Muamer Zukorlic Meets with Qatari Ambassador to Serbia

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Academician Muamer Zukorlic received the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Serbia H.E. Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al-Thani in a farewell visit.

Academician Zukorlic, who is also the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Qatar, said that great interest was expressed in raising cooperation between Qatar and Serbia to the highest level. The officials agreed that the circumstances are right for it, considering that the dangers of COVID are decreasing and the political situation in the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf is much better than in the previous period.

"The Ambassador is happy that in this legislature I am again the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Qatar which was taken as a kind of honour and message for the relations between the Republic of Serbia and the State of Qatar. Qatar is a very interesting and one of the richest countries in the world, especially in the Gulf region. Though it is a small country in terms of area, it has managed to act as a country of international influence for more than two decades. I expect that as early as September, we could take significant steps in upgrading cooperation, perhaps even exchange certain visits", said Zukorlic.

He pointed out that there was an exceptional interest in economic cooperation and that Qatar is a country that can invest a lot in Serbia, which would greatly refresh the domestic economy. There is also great interest in deepening cooperation in the field of culture and education.
