Greeting the Ambassador, the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Turkmenistan, Dragomir Karic stressed that the MPs showed great interest in the Parliamentary Friendship Group. He opined that there is significant political and economic interest for Serbia and Turkmenistan to continue the cooperation once enjoyed by Yugoslavia and the USSR. Karic drew attention to the need for cooperation in the spheres of construction, energy and agriculture, as well as those of culture and sport. The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Turkmenistan also greeted the Head of the Europe Department at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, pleased that he could attend the meeting.
Turkmen Ambassador to the Russian Federation, H.E. Berdymurad Redzhepovich Redzhepov said that the MPs’ great interest in the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Turkmenistan testifies to the fact that Serbia is, just like Turkmenistan, interested in cooperation on all levels, including the parliamentary. The Ambassador opined that the two countries should primarily promote economic cooperation, followed by cooperation in all other spheres. He also added that Turkmenistan had opened talks with the Serbian Foreign Ministry on international treaties.
Vladimir Cvijan, Vladimir Marinkovic, Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Milovan Drecun, Bojan Jakovljevic, Branislav Blazic, Aleksandar Radojevic and Dragan Todorovic, members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Turkmenistan, also took part in the meeting.
