Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Slovakia Meet with Newly-Appointed Slovak Ambassador to Serbia
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Slovakia Aleksandra Maletic and PFG member Zeljko Susec met today with the newly-appointed Slovak Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Dagmar Repcekova.
Maletic thanked Slovakia for its principled position concerning the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija and for its not supporting Pristina’s bid to join UNESCO at the organisation’s General Conference.
Ambassador Repcekova said that by not voting in favour of Pristina during the UNESCO General Conference Slovakia stood strong against the pressure exerted on it and confirmed its friendly relations with Serbia.
She opined that Serbia needs to show that it really cares about preserving the cultural heritage in Kosovo-Metohija and that this was not just a political decision but a matter it wanted to make part of the dialogue with Pristina.
The officials also discussed the importance of furthering cooperation in the fields of economy, finance, education and sports. They agreed that the Slovak Republic is a best practice example that Serbia should follow in its own EU accession process.
Besides the Head of the PFG with Slovakia, Aleksandra Maletic, the meeting was also attended by PFG member Zeljko Susec.
