Members of PFG with Romania Meet with Members of Romanian Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies Committee for Romanian Communities Living Abroad

The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Romania met today, at the National Assembly House, with the members of the Committee for Romanian Communities Living Abroad of the Romanian Parliament’s Chamber of Deputies.


The meeting focused on promoting cooperation and the status of the Serbian and Romanian national minority in Romania and Serbia.

The Head of the PFG with Romania Miletic Mihajlovic said that the two countries’ friendly relations should be developed even further in the future. He highlighted the importance of promoting interparliamentary and economic cooperation, cooperation on projects, infrastructure, culture and similar.

The officials concluded that the status of the Romanian national minority in Serbia and Serbian national minority in Romania are at an admirable level, but there is still room for further improvements.

Mihai Deaconu, who headed the Romanian parliamentary delegation, said that Serbia is a very important regional partner for Romania. He agreed with the Head of the PFG with Romania that promoting parliamentary cooperation is very important for the overall improvement of the two countries’ relations. He said that interparliamentary exchanges are an efficient way to promote projects of common interest.

Deaconu said that the status of the Romanian national minority in Serbia and Serbian national minority in Romania are very important for the enhancement of relations between the two countries, adding that Romania and the Romanian national minority in Serbia consider education, religious service and media/information in the mother tongue to be matters of particular importance.

The meeting was also attended by PFG members Tanja Tomasevic Damnjanovic, Svetislav Vukmirica, Slobodan Peric, Dragan Aleksic, Dr Gordana Zoric, Gordana Topic, Aleksandar Cotric and Dragan Paunovic.
