Members of PFG with India Talk to Departing Indian Ambassador to Serbia H.E. Narinder Chauhan

The Head of the PFG with India Ivana Stojiljkovic thanked the departing Indian Ambassador for the five-years of successful cooperation, stressing that in that period the two countries improved bilateral relations as evidenced by the reciprocal visits of high dignitaries.

The PFG Head said that during Ambassador Chauhan’s mandate in Serbia the two countries signed a series of agreements in a variety of fields such as military cooperation, defence, agriculture, medicine, tourism, IT and electronics. In September 2017 Serbia also abolished visas for Indian nationals, becoming the first country in Europe to do so.

Ivana Stojiljkovic said that this year is the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and India which share traditionally friendly relations, adding that there is still room to advance overall bilateral cooperation.

Stojiljkovic went on to thank Ambassador Chauhan for her country’s principled stance on Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, adding that Serbia will continue to support Serbia in international forums and the fight against terrorism.

Ivana Stojiljkovic said she was pleased by the fact that Indian investors are coming to Serbia and creating new jobs for Serbian citizens, adding that more than 100 Serbian entrepreneurs are doing business in India.

Indian Ambassador Narinder Chauhan said that she is pleased by the successful interparliamentary cooperation, opining that during her mandate the two nations built up enormous trust. She thanked Serbia for its support in international forums and in the United Nations to make 21 June International Day of Yoga.

The two officials agreed that the two countries should continue to develop and expand parliamentary cooperation.

The meeting was also attended by Vera Jovanovic, member of the PFG with India.
