Members of PFG with France Meet with Delegation of French National Assembly’s France-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with France, Natasa Vuckovic and the PFG members met, at the National Assembly House, with a delegation of the French National Assembly’s France-Serbia Parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by Martine Carrillon-Couvreur.
The heads of the parliamentary friendship groups opined that Serbia and France share historically good and friendly ties and that their interparliamentary cooperation is on the rise, something the activities of the parliamentary friendship groups have greatly contributed to.
The participants of the meeting agreed that it is the parliamentary friendship groups’ task to initiate and promote cooperation between Serbia and France in the areas of economy, security, education, social issues and development.
The Head of the PFG with France, Natasa Vuckovic conveyed the Serbian citizens’ gratitude for the swift assistance France sent after the 2014 floods. Vuckovic stressed that the assistance France lends Serbia in the European integration process is also invaluable, since France is one of the key members of the European Union, and hopes that the first negotiations chapters would be opened soon. The National Assembly has reached consensus on European integration, said Vuckovic stressing that it is the framework for the essential reforms conducted in Serbia as regards the judiciary, respecting human rights, building stable institutions and freedom of the media.
The Head of the France-Serbia PFG Martine Carrillon-Couvreur thanked Serbia for the solidarity following the tragic attack on the offices of “Charlie Hebdo” in January 2015. In the face of modern challenges and threats, we need to join forces against terrorism at the regional, European and global level, agreed the participants of meeting.
The meeting was attended by PFG members Sabina Dazdarevic, Vladimir Djukanovic, MA Aleksandra Jerkov, Milan Petric, Dr Vesna Rakonjac, Tanja Tomasevic Damnjanovic and Dragan Sutanovac, and the French Ambassador to Serbia Christine Moro.
