MPs Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic and Tomislav Jankovic Take Part in CFSP/CSDP Interparliamentary Conference

A delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia took part in the Interparliamentary Conference on the Common Foreign and Security Policy and the Common Security and Defence Policy, held on 3 and 4 March 2021, under the auspices of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU Council.

The delegation comprised National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic and Foreign Affairs Committee substitute member Tomislav Jankovic.

The two-day vide conference was opened by the Speaker of the Portuguese Parliment by Eduardo Ferro Rodrigues and the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs David McAllister.

In the course of the conference’s three sessions the participants discussed the cooperation between the EU and NATO and the EU comprehensive strategy with Africa, and also exchanged opinions with Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, and Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General.

Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic asked EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Josep Borrell: “Considering that the EU was the guarantor of the 2013 Brussels Agreement, and Pristina has failed to implement the provisions concerning the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, what will the EU do to make sure Pristina implements the Brussels Agreement?” Professor Obradovic stressed that “the Serbian citizens’ attitude toward the EU, as well as Serbia’s path to the EU, greatly depends on the EU’s reaction and the resolution of this issue”.
