MP Jadranka Joksimovic at International Conference on Connecting Supervisory Authorities – Assessment and Strengthening of Supervision over Intelligence Services in Western Balkan Countries in Ljubljana

The Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Security Services Control Committee, Jadranka Joksimovic, will take part in the International Conference on “Connecting supervisory authorities – assessment and strengthening of supervision over intelligence services in Western Balkan countries”, on 5 and 6 December 2012, in Ljubljana, Slovenia.


The topic of the conference will be the promotion and protection of human rights in the work of intelligence services, role of the media in the control of intelligence services, parliaments and the control of intelligence services in Western Balkan countries, assessment of intelligence services control systems, as well as the role of civil society in the control of intelligence services.
The Conference, organised by the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), will gather the MPs and supports services of the parliaments of the countries in the region, representatives of leading European auditing institutions, representatives of civil society and the media, as well as former intelligence officials and investigative journalists from countries outside the region.
The Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Security Services Control Committee, Jadranka Joksimovic, will be addressing the participants of the Conference on “Parliaments and control of intelligence services in Western Balkan countries – way forward”, while Pavel Gantar, former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Zdenka Cebasek Travnik, Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia, Sasa Jankovic, Ombudsman of the Republic of Serbia, and Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Serbia, are also expected to speak.
