The meeting organised by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence and the Centre of Modern Skills, which function as the secretariat of the informal Green Parliamentary Group, was attended by the MPs comprising the informal parliamentary Group - Dejan Radenkovic, Mirjana Djokovic, Ivan Karic, Jovan Markovic, Nebojsa Tatomir, Jelisaveta Veljkovic, Nevena Stojanovic, Krstimir Pantic and representatives of several local self-governments.

One of the three coordinators of the informal Green Parliamentary Group Dejan Radenkovic greeted the participants saying that the objective of the meeting is to brief the MPs on the environmental problems at the local self-government level so that they could be addressed efficiently.

“We need to establish two-way communication and consult with one another so as to avoid repeating the past. We are aware of the problems and have set goals which we are fulfilling one step at a time”, concluded Radenkovic.

The participants of the meeting ascertained that there are many environmental problems at the local level because of the lack of coordination, funds and personnel to address them.

They concluded that the capacities in the field should be strengthened, and there should be a tendency to set up a separate ministry and environmental protection fund.
