Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Committee Chairman Meets with Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence Representatives
Today at the National Assembly House, the Chairman of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Meho Omerovic met with the representatives of the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence (BFPE) Mina Lazarevic and Jelena Ivancevic in order to discuss the continued cooperation between the Committee and this organisation as regards promoting gender equality.
The BFPE representatives emphasised the importance of the cooperation with the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality for the realisation of project “Women for Democracy and Equality” aimed at inspiring higher participation of women in political decision-making and effective application of equal opportunities policies. The project envisages the creation of a Women’s Caucus modeled on the Finnish Parliament’s experience.
The realisation of project “Women for Democracy and Equality” includes seminars, public hearings and a final conference.
Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic stated that the members of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality will be informed on the initiative at the next Committee sitting.
