Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Committee Chairman Dr Muamer Bacevac Talks with OSCE Mission to Serbia Representatives

The Committee Chairman opined that the long-standing cooperation between the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality and the OSCE Mission to Serbia has been successful and has significantly contributed to the work of the Committee. He suggested future activities, among other things, in the area of prevention of violence against women, as well as further improvement of the rights of national minorities.

John Clayton, Head of the Democratization Department of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, expressed interest in continuing cooperation and pointed out the need to monitor the implementation of laws after they are passed, adding that the OSCE Mission stands ready to offer the Committee support in the monitoring of the implementation of the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence. They also discussed continuing to organise sittings outside of the National Assembly seat when the circumstances allow it, and joint cooperation with the new Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue, as well as with the Ombudsman.

The representatives of the OSCE Mission informed the Committee Chairman about the internship programme and engagement of interns in five state institutions, including the National Assembly. They also mentioned and invited members of the Committee to participate in the seminars for new MPs that will be organized online due to the pandemic. The officials agreed on further joint cooperation in all the abovementioned areas.

Besides John Clayton, Agnes Bodens, Micaela Thurman and Bogdan Urosevic also took part in the online meeting.
